Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Machining Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations within a high-volume precision machining manufacturing facility. This leadership role is responsible for driving equipment reliability, improving operational performance, and developing a high-performing maintenance organization that supports production goals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge of CNC machining, PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, and preventative maintenance strategies who can effectively lead both salaried and hourly maintenance teams in a union manufacturing environment.

This position requires a strategic leader who can balance daily operational demands with long-term planning, continuous improvement initiatives, budgeting, capital planning, and workforce development. Candidates should have a proven track record of building engaged teams, driving accountability, reducing downtime, and implementing sustainable maintenance processes that improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors, planners, engineers, and skilled trades employees while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Direct preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize production downtime.
  • Provide technical leadership for a wide variety of manufacturing equipment, including CNC machining centers, PLC-controlled systems, robotics, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated production equipment.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving safety, quality, productivity, and equipment performance.
  • Manage departmental budgets, capital improvement projects, maintenance expenditures, workforce planning, and long-term maintenance strategies.
  • Partner with production, engineering, controls, and plant leadership to troubleshoot equipment issues, identify root causes, implement permanent corrective actions, and improve manufacturing processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Maintenance Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 5 years in a maintenance leadership role.
  • Experience leading large maintenance organizations that include both salaried leaders and hourly skilled trades employees.
  • Strong background supporting high-volume precision machining operations.
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining centers, PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Experience developing preventative and predictive maintenance programs using CMMS systems and maintenance analytics.
  • Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets, capital planning, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead a union manufacturing environment while building strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement background
  • Skilled trades leadership or apprenticeship program experience
  • Automotive manufacturing experience  
Employment Type & Compensation
  • Type of Employment: This is a Full-Time | Direct Hire position  
  • Compensation: $125,000 – $150,000+ per year, based on experience
    • Bonus: 12-24% annual bonus based on company and individual performance
