Position Summary
As the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for leading all plant maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime, operational efficiency, and workplace safety within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role oversees maintenance teams, develops preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and production performance. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with hands-on technical expertise, the ability to manage and develop skilled trades personnel, and a proven track record of supporting high-volume manufacturing operations through effective maintenance planning and execution.  
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop maintenance supervisors, planners, and a 48‑person skilled‑trades workforce.  
  • Drive engagement, accountability, and performance across a single‑craft UAW environment.  
  • Set expectations, address performance issues quickly, and maintain high operational standards.  
  • Oversee daily maintenance operations across multiple plants, including ~400 production assets and 63 overhead trolleys.  
  • Participate in daily leadership routines, including shift‑start reviews and updates with the Plant Director.  
  • Coordinate cross‑functionally with operations, engineering, and CI teams to resolve issues and support production needs.  
  • Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for equipment failures.  
  • Support major projects such as redesigning legacy assembly lines and upgrading aging equipment.  
  • Provide technical direction across diverse equipment, including CNC machinery and PLC‑controlled systems.  
  • Ensure effective use of CMMS systems and leverage maintenance data to improve reliability.  
  • Own the maintenance department budget, including headcount planning, capital requests, and R&M spending.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements to perform the job safely
Qualifications & Skills
  • Progressive leadership experience within maintenance organizations.  
  • Strong foundation in maintenance management within high‑volume precision machining environments.  
  • Demonstrated success leading and influencing in a unionized skilled‑trades environment.  
  • Proven ability to manage both people, leadership and technical operations.  
  • Strong business acumen, including budgeting, capital planning, and cost control.  
  • Ability to drive accountability, set expectations, and elevate performance standards.  
  • Experience with transmission or drivetrain manufacturing is a plus.  
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance analytics preferred.  
  • Clear communicator able to articulate evaluation methods, opportunity identification, and implement improvements.
Preferred, but not required:  
  • Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement background preferred.
  • Skilled‑trades leadership or apprenticeship program experience preferred.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
Employment Type & Compensation
  • This is a Full-Time | Direct Hire position  
  • Base Salary $125,000 – $150,000+ per year, based on experience
  • Bonus: 12-24% annual bonus based on company and individual performance
