Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Administrative Assistant (Purchasing) to support procurement and purchasing operations within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for coordinating the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and services necessary to support daily operations. The ideal candidate will assist with vendor communications, purchase order processing, inventory monitoring, freight coordination, and data management while ensuring compliance with company policies and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Administrative Assistant (Purchasing) to support procurement and purchasing operations within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for coordinating the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and services necessary to support daily operations. The ideal candidate will assist with vendor communications, purchase order processing, inventory monitoring, freight coordination, and data management while ensuring compliance with company policies and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price
- Directs the buying and/or places the orders of all production and non-production materials, equipment and services
- Verifying, preparing, and forwarding purchase orders, verifies receipt or items and forwarding to A/P, and prepares and manages RFP’s (Request for Purchases)
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements to perform the job safely
Qualifications & Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- A minimum of two (2) years manufacturing purchasing experience within a related industry required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and have experience with MAS 200 or other related business software
- Experience with computerized accounting required
- Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field preferred
- Knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures including quoting, negotiating, business law and contracts
- Ability to effectively negotiate with and communicate with Sales, Manufacturing/Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Suppliers
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point. Experience with MAS 200 or related business software preferred
Employment Type & Compensation
- This is a Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire position
- Pay rate is $20.00 Hourly
