Job Title: Saw Operator 1st Shift
Location: Faribault, MN
Salary: $20.00-$25.00 per hour, DOE
Schedule: 1st shift | Monday-Friday
Employment Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire
Job Summary
As a Saw Operator, you will be responsible for preparing metal surfaces before they undergo various manufacturing processes, such as welding, painting, or powder coating. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of metal components by performing essential surface preparation tasks.  
Key Responsibilities
  • Material Inventory: Keep track of raw material and consumables used in the saw process and communicate any material needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Material Handling: Safely handle and move jobs around to next corresponding operations.
  • Surface Conditioning: Use tools and equipment, such as grinders, sanders, and wire brushes, to condition metal surfaces and create smooth and even finishes.
  • Quality Control: Inspect job after cutting to ensure they meet required specifications and are ready for subsequent manufacturing operation.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on Saw’s and other equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any equipment issues to maintenance personnel or supervisors.
  • Safety and PPE: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while handling metal materials and operating surface preparation, grinding, and sandblasting equipment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect against hazards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members, including supervisors, welders, fabricators, and painters, to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
  • Documentation: Accurately record production data in Epicor, machine settings, and maintenance activities to maintain production records and assist in process improvement efforts.
  • Manage and operate different types of equipment ranging from Automatic Aluminum saws, Automatic Steel Saw, Tub bender, 40 Ton Press & Manual Saw.
  • Ensure to follow work schedule and cut material for weld queue or Projects withing the departments
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read instructions, safely operate machines and visually inspect parts produced.
  • Accuracy and timeliness in completion of work assignments is a must.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend plant directives written in English.
  • Have basic computer skills and accurate data entry experience for receiving and issuing products.
  • Perform simple mathematics to comprehend and interpret process sheets, SOP manuals, tally sheets, etc. and to keep accurate account of materials used during manufacturing process including scrap amounts.
  • Ability to grind components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Basic understanding of blueprints, mechanical assembly, and electrical assembly.
  • Frequent lifting, standing, bending, & reaching required.
  • Must adhere to all the PPE requirements to perform the job safely; this includes but is not limited to, Eye, Hand, Feet, and Hearing protection.
  • Understanding different metal types and their specific grinding and sandblasting requirements.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to achieve precise and consistent surface finishes.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and proper handling of grinding and sandblasting equipment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
