Position Summary:
The Sorter inspects and separates recyclable materials on a conveyor line, removes contaminants, and maintains a clean and safe work area. This position requires attention to detail, consistent attendance, adherence to safety procedures, and compliance with all required dress code and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.

Responsibilities:
- Inspect and sort materials by type, size, condition, color, or paper grade.
- Remove contaminants from recyclable materials and surrounding work areas.
- Feed materials onto conveyor lines and unload boxes, totes, and containers.
- Stack boxes and skids as needed.
- Monitor equipment displays during startup and help ensure machinery operates properly.
- Follow established operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Clean conveyor lines and maintain an orderly work area.
- Report equipment malfunctions and potential safety hazards.
- Attend required safety and operations meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- At least three months of related work experience or training required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to follow instructions, recognize material differences, and maintain accurate sorting.
- Ability to handle materials weighing less than 30 pounds as needed.
- Ability to stand, move, and work around conveyor equipment for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in an outdoor industrial environment with exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and varying weather conditions.
- Commitment to workplace safety, attendance, and punctuality.
Mandatory Dress Code, Transportation and PPE Requirements:
All requirements below must be met to begin work. Failure to comply with may result in loss of work opportunity.
- Required attire: Long-sleeved shirt and work pants or jeans. Clothing must be clean, properly fitted, and free of holes, rips, or tears. Loose-fitting clothing is not permitted.
- Steel-toed boots: Workers must provide their own standard, lace-up steel-toed work boots with a 6-inch height. Boots must be worn when reporting for work.
- PPE requirement: All required personal protective equipment must be obtained and brought to the facility before the assignment begins.
- Reliable transportation: Workers must have dependable transportation to and from the facility every workday.
- Punctuality: Workers must arrive on time and be ready to work as scheduled. Tardiness may result in loss of work opportunities.
Schedule:
- First day is Monday, report at 9:00 am
- 1st Shift, 6:00 am – 4:00 pm
Required Reporting Instructions
- First Day Report Monday at 9:00 am to the facility breakroom. Location will be provided during the onboarding process.
- Arrive on time wearing the required long-sleeve shirt, work pants, and steel-toed boots, with all required PPE available. Failure to meet the reporting, dress code, or PPE requirements may result in disqualification from the assignment.
Compensation:
- $15.00 per hour
