Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Yard Spotter to join a fast-paced warehouse and distribution operation in Naperville, IL. This position is responsible for safely moving trailers throughout the yard, supporting shipping and receiving operations, and operating forklifts within the warehouse. The ideal candidate will have prior yard spotting experience, a valid Class A CDL, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Yard Spotter to join a fast-paced warehouse and distribution operation in Naperville, IL. This position is responsible for safely moving trailers throughout the yard, supporting shipping and receiving operations, and operating forklifts within the warehouse. The ideal candidate will have prior yard spotting experience, a valid Class A CDL, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely move loaded and empty trailers between docks, staging areas, and designated yard locations.
- Operate sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, stage, and transport products.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and complete required equipment reports before operation.
- Follow all yard safety procedures, including dock locks, wheel chocks, traffic flow, and speed regulations.
- Pull, prepare, and stage products for shipment while ensuring accuracy and preventing damage.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper product handling, stock rotation, and recordkeeping.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements to perform the job safely
Qualifications & Skills
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Yard Spotter, Yard Jockey, or similar position.
- Experience operating forklifts, clamp trucks, or other powered industrial equipment.
- Forklift certification or ability to successfully complete forklift training and certification.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and shipping/receiving processes. Experience working in high-traffic warehouses or distribution environments preferred.
- Skills: Problem solving, basic math, attention to detail, read, write, communicate in English
- Ability to lift, pull, and move up to 50 pounds without restriction.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Ability to work overtime, extended hours, and weekends as needed.
Employment Type & Compensation
- This is a Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire position
- Pay rate is $24.00 per hour
