Vice President of Finance
SUMMARY
The Vice President of Finance focuses on strategic financial leadership and hands-on operational management and directs the financial activities of the organization by performing duties personally or through a subordinate manager. The role functions as the top finance executive, advising the CEO and owning the full financial life cycle.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Vice President of Finance will Support and adhere to the Corporate Mission Statement, the Quality Policy and the Environmental Policy; and demonstrate a commitment to "Total Customer Satisfaction" while providing exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Vice President of Finance establishes, or recommends to management, major economic objectives and policies for the company, reports directly to the CEO, and serve as the primary financial advisor to the executive team and board of directors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Drive continuous process improvements across all finance and accounting functions to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Oversee all day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and tax preparation.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process, ensuring all reporting is timely and accurate
- Prepare and present financial reports, performance metrics, and actionable insights to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all financial data and reporting, in accordance with the income tax basis of accounting.
- Advise management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
- Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Manage the financial modeling and forecasting process, providing forward-looking financial analysis to guide decision-making.
- Develop and manage the company's cash flow projections to optimize working capital and liquidity.
- Lead risk management efforts, including evaluating and negotiating insurance coverage and implementing internal controls to protect company assets.
- Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, investors, accountants, lawyers and vendors.
- Lead, mentor, and develop finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Manage external accounting firms, as necessary, for audits/reviews, tax filings, and specialized financial advice.
- Serve on the 401k Advisory Committee
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as defined in 0102-Q.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises the Accounting Manager and indirectly supervises the Accounting Clerk. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Responsibility satisfactorily, be strategic, organized and detail oriented. Proficiency with financial software and modeling, and ERP systems is required. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to achieve success in the role. A “hands-on” and results-oriented mindset with the ability to manage both high-level strategy and day-to-day details is a must. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; MBA or CPA preferred. Ten or more years in progressive financial management, including leadership roles, and managing all accounting/finance operations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and subject matter. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
