Position Summary

NCW is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Plate Saw Operator to join a growing metal processing facility in Garland, TX. In this role, you will operate a plate saw to cut metal materials according to customer specifications while ensuring accuracy, quality, and efficiency throughout the production process. The ideal candidate has experience working in a manufacturing environment, is comfortable using precision measuring tools, and is committed to maintaining a safe and organized work area.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a plate saw to cut metal plate materials according to work orders and customer specifications.
- Read and interpret job specifications to determine machine settings and material requirements.
- Measure finished materials using calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes to verify accuracy.
- Monitor machine performance and identify quality issues or equipment malfunctions.
- Complete production paperwork accurately, including lot numbers, tag numbers, purchase order information, and packaging details.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, maintain a clean work area, and safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while following all company and OSHA safety standards.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures including PPE requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred (1–3 months minimum experience is a plus).
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety procedures, and operating instructions.
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
- Basic mathematical skills, including fractions, percentages, measurements, and conversions.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, side loaders, or willingness to learn.
- Regularly stand, walk, reach, bend, and use hands throughout the shift.
- Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds independently; team lifting is required for items over 50 pounds.
- Ability to work around moving machinery in a loud manufacturing environment.
PPE Requirements
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe footwear.
Employment Type & Compensation
- This is a Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire position
- Compensation: $18.00 per hour
- Application Window: Open until filled
Work Schedule
- 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM | Possible Overtime
