Position Summary
The Non-Certified Electrician provides electrical expertise in the installation of residential solar and battery storage systems, ensuring compliance with applicable national, state, and local electrical and building codes. Responsibilities may include performing or assisting with main panel upgrades (MPUs), electrical troubleshooting, service work, and system commissioning, depending on state regulations. This role also supports the PV installation team and may perform additional duties as needed, including leading the crew in the absence of the Foreman.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the installation of electrical systems that connect residential solar and battery storage systems to the utility grid. 
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed safely, meets high-quality workmanship standards, and complies with current NEC, state, and local codes. 
  • Plan and perform solar battery installations and main panel upgrades (MPUs) in accordance with assigned responsibilities and applicable state licensing requirements. 
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical and system performance issues. 
  • Collaborate with project teams and homeowners to identify and complete necessary electrical upgrades, repairs, and modifications that support system functionality. 
  • Coordinate with local inspectors and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure compliance with permitting, inspection, and code requirements. 
  • Apply and enforce OSHA regulations and company safety procedures related to photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage system installations. 
  • Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as assigned to support operational needs. 
  • Travel to job sites and project locations as required (approximately 5% travel).
Requirements:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. 
  • Must have completed at least 75% of the required hours needed to qualify for state-specific electrical licensing or certification examinations. 
  • Previous experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair is required, including work with systems up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC. 
  • Experience with residential electrical service replacements and distribution panel upgrades is preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of current NEC codes, ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter. 
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and successfully pass a motor vehicle background check. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)  
  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance  
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces which requires kneeling and crouching  
  • Ability to work in outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, green   
Schedule:
  • 1st Shift, Monday – Friday
Compensation:
  • $60,320 – $99,840 annually, based on experience
