Mechanical Engineer – Newark, CA
We are seeking a skilled and driven Mechanical Engineer with 3 to 5 years of professional experience to join our engineering team at our Newark, CA corporate office. As a leading integration, fabrication, and automation supplier, we design and deliver high-performance solutions for demanding high-tech industries. In this role, you will own the design, analysis, development, and testing of complex mechanical systems and automated machinery from initial concepts through custom fabrication and system integration.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in mechanical design, advanced 3D modeling skills, and hands-on experience bringing equipment to life. A background in any of our core markets—semiconductors, life sciences, or data centers—is a major plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Product Design: Create detailed 3D models, large/complex assemblies, and 2D production drawings using SolidWorks, ensure design intent matches custom fabrication capabilities.
- Automation & Integration Design: Design mechanical structures, frames, linkages, and component mountings for integrated automation systems and fluid/thermal routing.
- Engineering Analysis: Perform mechanical, thermal, fluid flow, and structural analyses (FEA/CFD) to validate product designs against rigorous performance and environmental requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with electrical, controls, and software engineers to seamlessly integrate mechanical components with automation hardware and sensors.
- Prototyping, Testing & Fabrication Support: Work closely with New Product Introduction (NPI) team to build, test, and troubleshoot design prototypes. Collaborate with fabrication team to optimize designs for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
- Documentation & Data Management: Generate comprehensive engineering documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and system design reviews.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical product design, ideally involving automation, industrial equipment, or integrated systems.
- CAD Expertise: Highly proficient in SolidWorks 3D modeling, large assembly management, and standard geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
- Experience utilizing PLM/PDM software (e.g., SolidWorks PDM, Teamcenter) for engineering data management and revision control.
Preferred Qualifications
- Equipment or component design experience within one of the following markets:
- Semiconductor industry – fluidics, process cooling, thermal management, precision motion control, pneumatics, vacuum systems.
- Life Sciences market – microfluidics, lab automation, manifold design, medical manufacturing systems.
- Data center infrastructure – high-density thermal management, liquid cooling manifolds, custom rack/enclosure architectures.
