Overview

We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and can step into a leadership role immediately. This is an opportunity for a skilled operator ready to elevate into a supervisory position while still working hands-on with the team.    This position requires a “cut above” candidate with proven experience operating heavy-duty outdoor equipment and managing yard operations in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.  

Job Summary

As a Laydown Yard Supervisor, you will oversee daily operations at a large outdoor inventory yard supporting high-voltage utility projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who brings strong equipment experience, accountability, and the ability to lead from the front.  

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities within an outdoor laydown yard
  • Operate Class 7 heavy-duty forklifts and telehandlers to unload and move materials
  • Oversee unloading of flatbed trucks carrying large utility materials (poles, high-voltage components, etc.)
  • Organize and maintain accurate inventory placement throughout the yard
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and staging of oversized and heavy materials
  • Lead by example while enforcing safety protocols and maintaining a productive workflow

Job Requirements
  • Proven experience operating Class 7 forklifts and/or telehandlers (required)
  • Prior experience in a laydown yard, construction yard, or outdoor material handling environment
  • Supervisory or team lead experience preferred
  • Ability to safely handle large, heavy, and oversized materials
  • Strong awareness of jobsite safety standards and best practices
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Work Environment
  • Fully outdoor laydown yard (no traditional warehouse setting)
  • Mobile office trailer onsite
  • Work involves heavy equipment operation and physical activity

Work Schedule
  • Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
