Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laser Welder Operator to join our manufacturing client in Faribault, MN. This role plays a critical part in our fabrication process, supporting our strategic objectives through the production of high-quality welded components.
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Laser Welder Operator performs hand laser welding on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless-steel components, ensuring welds meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirement
What You’ll Do:
Laser Welding & Fabrication
- Perform hand Laser welding on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless-steel components. Weld small and large components, including tubing and structural parts. Weld in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. Work with various joint configurations, including butt, lap, and fillet welds
Material Preparation & Inspection
- Clean and prepare materials prior to welding, inspect aluminum, mild steel and ensure quality standards are met, and assess welded surfaces and components to identify defects or errors
Equipment Setup & Operation
- Set up and adjust welding equipment Including torch selection, gas flow, and amperage. Maintain and operate hand tools required to set up, troubleshoot, and operate equipment.
Quality Control & Documentation
- Inspect finished welds using visual inspection and non-destructive methods as required. Monitor production to maintain workflow and adjust inefficiencies. Complete daily production documentation; production reports, tally sheets, scrap reports. Accurately record production data and machine settings in Epicor
Safety & Collaboration
- Follow all company and industry safety guidelines and PPE requirements. Read, understand, and follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Collaborate with Supervisors, fabricators, and quality team members to meet production goal. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Basic understanding of measuring tools and weld quality inspection
- Ability to read and interpret, and train others on welding symbols, blueprints, and engineering drawings
- Familiarity with different grades of aluminum and welding requirements
- Strong knowledge of shop safety procedures and PPE usage.
- PPE required (eye, hand, hearing, and safety footwear)
- Ability to assess welded surfaces and identify errors
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend plant directives in English
Additional Requirements
- Completion of a basic welding course or vocational welding program
- Ability to perform simple math to interpret SOPs, process sheets, tally sheets, and track scrap
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. intermittently
- Comfortable with frequent standing, bending, lifting, and reaching
Available Shifts: (Monday-Thursday)
- 1st Shift: 5:00am-3:30pm
- 2nd Shift: 3:30pm-2:00am
