Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable Sorter to support recycling and material sorting operations in the Morrisville, NC area. This position works along a conveyor line to inspect, sort, and remove materials while maintaining a clean and safe work area. The role involves physical work and extended exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and changing weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and sort materials by type, size, condition, color, or grade.
- Remove contaminants from paper, materials, and surrounding work areas.
- Feed materials onto the conveyor line and monitor material flow.
- Stack boxes and skids and empty boxes or totes as needed.
- Clean and maintain the conveyor and surrounding sorting area.
- Monitor equipment startup and operation to ensure proper and moderate conveyor speed.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation and safety.
- Report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, or other issues.
- Participate in required safety and operations meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- At least 3 months of related work experience or training preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to perform physical work and handle materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work around dirt, odors, noise, and changing weather conditions for extended periods.
- Comfortable working on or around a conveyor sorting line.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must wear 6-inch lace-up steel-toe boots.
- Must wear long sleeves; hoodies or loose clothing that could become caught in equipment are not permitted.
- No long-hanging jewelry or other items that could become caught in equipment.
- Must follow all required safety procedures and workplace practices.
Schedule:
- First Day | Orientation –Thursday | 9:00 am
- Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am – 6:00 pm | Friday, 6:00 am – 3:00 pm
Compensation:
- $14.00 per hour
