Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable Sorter to support recycling and material sorting operations in the Liverpool, NY area. This position works along a conveyor line to inspect, sort, and remove materials while maintaining a clean and safe work area. The role requires extended exposure to outdoor conditions, dirt, odors, and noise. Candidates must be able to speak English and work until 4:30 pm every day if needed.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and sort materials by type, size, condition, color, or grade.
- Remove contaminants from paper, materials, and surrounding work areas.
- Feed materials onto the conveyor line and monitor material flow.
- Stack boxes and skids and empty boxes or totes as needed.
- Clean and maintain the conveyor and surrounding sorting area.
- Monitor equipment startup and operation to ensure proper and moderate conveyor speed.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation and safety.
- Report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, or other issues to the appropriate team member.
- Participate in required safety and operations meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- At least 3 months of related work experience or training preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must be able to speak English
- Ability to perform physical work and handle materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work around dirt, odors, noise, and changing weather conditions for extended periods.
- Must be comfortable working on or around a conveyor sorting line.
- Must wear 6-inch lace-up steel-toe boots.
- Must wear long pants and long sleeves; hoodies are not permitted.
- No long-hanging jewelry or clothing/accessories that could become caught in equipment.
- Must follow all safety procedures and required workplace practices.
Schedule:
- 6:00 am-4:30 pm
- Must be able to work until 4:30 pm every day if needed.
- Orientation on Wednesday
Compensation:
- $16.87 per hour
