Industrial Manufacturing Engineer
SUMMARY
Responsible for developing and improving manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods and incorporating Lean Process Methodology, 5S principles and general workplace Safety Improvements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Work is accomplished with some supervision.
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout using 5S and Lean Concepts.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; maintaining PM’s and requesting special service when required.
- Maintains product and process database by writing computer programs, entering data.
- Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Work with the Manufacturing Supervisor, Sales and Marketing Manager, the Engineering and QA Manager and the Director of Operations on customer specific or market specific product designs.
- Work with Inside Sales and Production Planning personnel on orders and production issues.
- Travel to vendor sites to provide technical support for valve production problems.
- Work with foundries to eliminate casting defects like scale, voids, cracks and porosity.
- Check documents provided by Product Design Engineering for manufacturability as well as consistency across product families.

This position will deal with Manufacturing Complexity, Clear and Concise Communications with others, Leadership, Hardware Specifications, Tooling Design, Manufacturing Methods and Process Design and Development, Manufacturing Quality, Presentation of Technical Information to non-technical people, and CAD and CAD/CAM expertise.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- BSIE or other relevant BS level Engineering degree.
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ Manufacturing Engineering experience.
- SolidWorks design proficiency.
- Expertise with MS Office products such as MS Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
- Competence and experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts and processes.
- Competent knowledge of tooling, materials and coatings used in manufacturing processes.
- Competent knowledge of castings, forgings and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to program G and M codes for CNC machines preferred.
- PLC and Controls experience, including programming
- Prior Leadership preferred
