Position Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced OEM Outside Technical Sales Representative who can effectively understand and interpret the technical requirements and specifications of our products to develop relationships with customers to obtain and grow sales accounts through the promotion of our technology.
The position is remote due to 75% travel to customer locations across North America. Must live near a major airport. Occasional travel to our German HQ may be required. This role reports to the Managing Director – Americas
Role Objectives:
- Establish and maintain long-term customer relationships by providing added value, excellent customer service, and continuous communication.
- Long-term increase in order intake and market share of the company in North American market.
- Increase customer satisfaction through effective, efficient, and expert advice.
- Consulting and support of our customers in complex and long-term projects.
- Approximately 65-75% of domestic travel with occasional international travel expected.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree. Preferable degree in a relevant field such as engineering (electrical engineering, software engineering, or electronics) or comparable training. Ideally supplemented by additional business management/sales training.
- Minimum of 7-10 years relevant professional experience in sales, preferably in a B2B environment, with a focus on automation technology/industrial automation/sensors.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to build/maintain relationships, as well as convey complex technical content understandably.
- Ability to develop sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts; soliciting new accounts; building rapport; providing technical information and explanations; preparing quotations.
- Good technical understanding in computers/software and electrical engineering are of great value to the candidate. Confident with consulting-intensive products.
- Comprehensive understanding of the North American market landscape, including industry trends, competitive analysis, and customer needs. Continuing education to keep up with latest technologies and industry trends.
- Experience with MS Office, ERP, CRM (ideally MS D365 BC, Salesforce).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Organizational ability for independent work, strategic thinking, and action.
- Knowledge of industrial communication and Ethernet protocols; Profibus, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET etc.
- Knowledge of process or factory automation, or PLCs/HMIs greatly beneficial.
- English Fluency; Working knowledge of Spanish a plus.
Tasks / Activities:
- Market analysis: Conduct regular market analyses, competitor research, and customer feedback to identify market opportunities and trends and to adapt sales strategies.
- Customer management: Active support and development of key customer relationships as well as acquisition of new business partnerships and customers through personal interaction and networking at industry events and trade fairs.
- Preparation of regular reports on sales activities, revenues, and market trends.

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit for periods of time at a desk and use a computer.
- Occasionally required to lift light weight (less than 50 pounds).
